Binge-Eating Disorder

WHAT IS BINGE-EATING DISORDER?
Binge-eating disorder is an eating disorder in which  individuals have out-of-control eating patterns, but do not purge (American Psychological Association). People with binge-eating disorder often are overweight or obese. Those with this disorder who are obese are at higher risk for developing cardiovascular disease and high blood pressure. They also experience guilt, shame, and distress about their binge-eating, which can lead to 
more binge-eating (NIMH).

  • Guilt, shame, and distress experienced after binge-eating (NIMH)

  • High blood pressure
